Oriented polypropylene netting is produced by heating and stretching extruded square mesh netting along its x- and y-axis to create a lighter-weight material with higher strength to weight ratios. Though visually similar, each netting has unique characteristics in terms of thickness, aperture size and strand shape to meet various application requirements.
Small aperture, lightweight plastic netting is ideally suited for pleating applications, providing support for the medium and improving flow rates by maintaining adequate pleat separation in the application. There is a wide range of small aperture nettings available and an even greater range of netting that can be easily customized for your application.
Light weight plastic netting is also used to reinforce another substrate. Often the netting is incorporated in a nonwoven to provide improved performance, such as strength or tear resistance. The netting becomes part of the composite medium without a separate function in the filter element.

Rectangular Mesh
Unlike conventional square mesh, these rectangular mesh feed spacers are engineered to create different channels in each direction. A proprietary orientation process stretches the extruded net in just one direction to create uniform multiple thin strands in one direction and more widely spaced, thicker strands in the perpendicular direction.
This alternative design uses one-third less resin than conventional feed spacers. This unique rectangular mesh is much less prone to "neck down" or stretch under the tension created when rolling the filter material.
Independent testing of filter elements made with this new feed spacer indicate similar performance compared to filters made with traditional diamond mesh feed spacers (Efficiency and Capacity testing per ASTM F795-88).
