Plastic mesh can be produced from a variety of base resins using extrusion and/or expansion processes to produce a wide range of apertures (hole sizes), weights, and thicknesses. Plastic netting is often selected based on non-corrosive or chemical resistance characteristics. Common resins used to produce plastic netting include:
PP = Polypropylene
PE = Polyethylene
LDPE = Low Density Polyethylene
MDPE = Medium Density Polyethylene
HDPE = High Density Polyethylene
PTFE = Polytetrafluoroethylene
PBT = Polybutylene Terephthalate
PET = Polyester
N = Nylon
Consult Material Specifications for recommended temperature ranges.
Polypropylene products produced for some filtration applications are manufactured to comply with FDA regulations for food contact and USP Class VI for pharmaceuticals. The regulation compliance is product number dependant. Nylon Complies with FDA regulations for food contact.
